I admit it was hard for Josh to accept that he was going to be the father of a little boy after moving on from that relationship, but once he saw him, he fell in love. There is one thing that holds our family together - unconditional love. We were able to dedicate Phoenix and Zailynn to the Lord with lots of love from the whole family. I even went to live with her for awhile after the divorce.Īll of the grandchildren were at the wedding and were a part of it. I have always considered her my mother as my mom died many years ago.

That’s where the reception was being held and everyone was in full “wedding mode.” (My husband Bill would have been there right along with us if his health didn’t stop him from traveling.)īefore the wedding, my ex-mother-in-law - the Matriarch of the family - arrived. Most of that time was spent at my ex-husband’s home. The other four nights were at my son’s house with his now wife Leighann. We appreciate that she always goes out of her way to make us feel part of the baby’s life. I told his mom she will always be the mother of my grandchild and part of our family forever. I also slept at my son’s ex-girlfriend’s house one night to spend time with my newest grandson, Phoenix, who is five months old. It felt so good to hear her call me grandma in her tiny little voice. I stayed at her house one of the nights with both of my Indiana granddaughters, Ivy and Kinzee, and got to spend time with Zailynn, the 2-year-old great-granddaughter I hadn’t met yet. I guess that’s not too surprising since she made the trip to Massachusetts with my granddaughter not long ago because she knew we love and miss them. I’m pretty proud of our family dynamics - although some would think they are a bit strange. I hadn’t been there in awhile so it was very exciting to see everyone. A recent trip to Indiana for my son Joshua’s wedding was filled with great things, big and small - and some a little out of the ordinary.
