  • But after that plane ride … there’s no place like home. So all-in-all, the trip was filled with many wonderful memories. I was just happy I made it to the plane before they closed the door. I knew from experience that my luggage would probably arrive at my house the next day. no one was running to bring my luggage to the plane. Meanwhile, I worried about missing my connecting flight, just as I had on a previous visit.Īs I ran through the airport to reach the plane to Providence, I knew once again. When we got on the plane, we were told of a second delay. Josh had just left and soon we were notified of a delay in takeoff. When all the alarms and whistles didn’t blow, he let me pass. With my arms out and palms up, the guard used tiny wipes to put a chemical on me. I have been to Indiana three times by plane and twice I have been picked! In Chicago, they put me in what appeared to be a telephone booth with blown air and searched for explosive particles. There are only three gates in that little hick-of-a-town airport! Still, I got picked for the search. Then, the rather large security agent snapped on his bright blue latex gloves and said to me, “Random search and check!” I thought I lucked out because I didn’t have to take my shoes off. Standing first in line at the Evansville airport, waiting for my bag to go through, I was tired and ready to go home. I did a lot of bonding and had a lot of fun on that trip until … 9! I will need a bigger desk at work to fit all the pictures of my grandchildren. To top things off, Josh and Leighann found out they are expecting a baby - grandbaby No. I learned that a long time ago from the Matriarch. Whether we like it or not, we will always be bound by children. There are a lot of “ex’s” in our story, but to us, it is just family. Everyone soon realized that if we all work together in the best interests of the children, things will be much better for all.

I admit it was hard for Josh to accept that he was going to be the father of a little boy after moving on from that relationship, but once he saw him, he fell in love. There is one thing that holds our family together - unconditional love. We were able to dedicate Phoenix and Zailynn to the Lord with lots of love from the whole family. I even went to live with her for awhile after the divorce.Īll of the grandchildren were at the wedding and were a part of it. I have always considered her my mother as my mom died many years ago.

That’s where the reception was being held and everyone was in full “wedding mode.” (My husband Bill would have been there right along with us if his health didn’t stop him from traveling.)īefore the wedding, my ex-mother-in-law - the Matriarch of the family - arrived. Most of that time was spent at my ex-husband’s home. The other four nights were at my son’s house with his now wife Leighann. We appreciate that she always goes out of her way to make us feel part of the baby’s life. I told his mom she will always be the mother of my grandchild and part of our family forever. I also slept at my son’s ex-girlfriend’s house one night to spend time with my newest grandson, Phoenix, who is five months old. It felt so good to hear her call me grandma in her tiny little voice. I stayed at her house one of the nights with both of my Indiana granddaughters, Ivy and Kinzee, and got to spend time with Zailynn, the 2-year-old great-granddaughter I hadn’t met yet. I guess that’s not too surprising since she made the trip to Massachusetts with my granddaughter not long ago because she knew we love and miss them. I’m pretty proud of our family dynamics - although some would think they are a bit strange. I hadn’t been there in awhile so it was very exciting to see everyone. A recent trip to Indiana for my son Joshua’s wedding was filled with great things, big and small - and some a little out of the ordinary.
